SageTech ("we," "our," or "us") operates the SageTech mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, password
- Profile information: Profile photo, bio (technicians only)
- Payment information: Credit/debit card details (processed securely by Stripe — we never store card numbers)
- Service information: Issue descriptions, job notes, ratings and reviews
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: Customers: one-time location to find nearby technicians. Technicians: continuous GPS during active jobs only.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version
- Usage data: Features used, pages visited, time spent in app
- Push notification tokens: To send job alerts and status updates
Information from Third Parties
- Stripe: Payment processing and verification
- Firebase: Authentication and data storage (Google)
- Checkr: Background check results (technicians only)
- Stream Chat: In-app messaging between customers and technicians
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Match customers with available technicians
- Process payments and send receipts
- Provide real-time technician tracking during active jobs
- Send push notifications about job status
- Calculate technician ratings and tier levels
- Improve our services and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
- Prevent fraud and ensure platform safety
4. Location Data
Customers: We request location permission to find technicians near you. We do not continuously track customer location.
Technicians: When you accept a job and go "En Route," we collect your GPS location every 5 seconds and share it with the customer who booked you. Location tracking stops automatically when the job is completed, cancelled, or marked as couldn't fix. You can stop tracking at any time by going offline in the app.
5. How We Share Your Information
We share your information with:
- Technicians: Your first name, general location area, and issue description when booking
- Customers: Technician's name, tier, rating, and real-time location during active jobs
- Stripe: Payment processing
- Firebase/Google: Data storage and authentication
- Checkr: Background check processing (technicians only)
- Stream: In-app chat messages
We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account
- Job history: Retained for 3 years for dispute resolution
- Location data: Not permanently stored — only used in real-time during active jobs
- Payment records: Retained as required by law (typically 7 years)
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Download your data

8. Children's Privacy
SageTech is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- End-to-end encryption for payment data (Stripe)
- Firebase security rules restricting data access
- Background checks for all technicians (Checkr)
- HTTPS for all data transmission
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via push notification or email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
