1. Introduction
SageTech Technologies, Inc. ("SageTech," "we," "our," or "us") operates the SageTech mobile application and website at sagetechapp.com (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Platform.
SageTech is a technology marketplace that connects customers seeking technology support services with independent contractor technicians. SageTech is not an employer of technicians and is not responsible for their conduct.
By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Name, email address, phone number, service address, and password when you create an account.
- Payment information: Credit and debit card details submitted at checkout. All payment data is transmitted directly to and processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store, process, or transmit full card numbers on our servers.
- Profile information: Profile photo and professional biography (technicians only).
- Service information: Descriptions of technical issues, job notes, photos submitted for AI diagnosis, ratings, and reviews.
- Communications: Messages sent via in-app chat, support emails, and feedback submissions.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: Customers grant one-time location access to identify nearby technicians. Technicians' GPS coordinates are collected at 5-second intervals while a job is active and in "En Route," "Arrived," or "Working" status. Location collection stops automatically upon job completion, cancellation, or when the technician goes offline.
- Device information: Device type, manufacturer, operating system version, app version, unique device identifiers, and IP address.
- Usage data: App features accessed, pages visited, time spent in-app, booking history, search queries, and interaction patterns.
- Push notification tokens: Device tokens used to deliver job alerts, status updates, and promotional notifications. You may disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
Information from Third Parties
- Stripe: Payment processing status, partial card information (last four digits, card type), and payout account verification for technicians.
- Firebase / Google: Authentication tokens and data storage metadata.
- Checkr: Background check results for technicians, including criminal history records as permitted by applicable law.
- Stream: In-app chat message metadata and delivery status.
- Apple: Subscription status and renewal information for Tech Pass subscribers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create, verify, and manage user accounts
- Match customers with available technicians based on proximity and skill
- Process payments, issue receipts, and facilitate technician payouts
- Provide real-time technician location tracking during active jobs
- Power Sage AI diagnostics to categorize issues and prepare technicians
- Send transactional push notifications and emails about job status
- Calculate technician ratings and determine tier advancement
- Conduct background checks on technicians through Checkr
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
- Resolve disputes between customers and technicians
- Improve platform features, performance, and user experience
- Send promotional communications (with your consent where required)
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
- Enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements
4. Location Data
Customers: We request "While Using" location permission to identify technicians in your area when you open a booking. We do not track your location continuously, store your precise historical location, or share your real-time location with technicians.
Technicians: When you accept a job and update your status to "En Route," we begin collecting your GPS coordinates at approximately 5-second intervals. These coordinates are transmitted to the customer who booked you via the live map feature so they can track your arrival. Location collection stops automatically when: (a) the job is marked complete; (b) the job is cancelled; (c) the job is marked as "Couldn't Fix"; or (d) you go offline in the app. You may also stop location sharing at any time by going offline, which will remove you from active job availability.
We do not retain technician GPS coordinates after a job ends. Location data is used in real-time only and is not stored in a manner that allows us to reconstruct a technician's historical movement patterns.
5. How We Share Your Information
Between Users
- When a customer books a job, the technician receives the customer's first name, general service area, and issue description.
- During an active job, the customer receives the technician's full name, tier badge, star rating, and real-time GPS location.
- After job completion, both parties' ratings and written reviews become part of the platform record.
Service Providers
We share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Stripe), cloud infrastructure (Google Firebase), background checks (Checkr), in-app messaging (Stream), analytics (Google Analytics), and transactional email (Resend). These providers are contractually required to use your data only as necessary to provide services to SageTech.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Business Transfers
If SageTech is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
